PRAYER FOR DEALING WITH DIFFICULT PEOPLE

This prayer for dealing with difficult people is based on the prayer for serenity.

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, which is pretty much everyone, since I’m clearly not you, God. At least not the last time I checked.

And while you’re at it, God, please give me the courage to change what I need to change about myself, which is frankly a lot, since, once again, I’m not you, which means I’m not perfect. It’s better for me to focus on changing myself than to worry about changing other people, who, as you’ll no doubt remember me saying, I can’t change anyway.

Finally, give me the wisdom to just shut up whenever I think that I’m clearly smarter than everyone else in the room, that no one knows what they’re talking about except me, or that I alone have all the answers.

Basically, God, grant me the wisdom to remember that I’m not you.

Amen”

TOP POPES’ QUOTES ABOUT PEACE

1. There Is No Peace Without Justice

“No peace without justice, no justice without forgiveness…Peace is essential for development, but true peace is made possible only through forgiveness. ”
Pope John Paul 2nd, World Day of Peace, 2002

2. Peace Is Always Possible

“Always, peace is possible! We have to seek it…. Prayer is the very root of peace. Peace is always possible and our prayer is at the root of peace. Prayer disseminates peace. Today is the World Day of Peace, “No longer slaves, but brothers and sisters.” Because war always makes slaves of us! It is a message that involves all of us. We are all called to combat every form of slavery and to build fraternity , all of us, each one according to his or her own responsibility. Remember well: peace is possible!”
Pope Francis, World Day of Peace, 2015

3. Peace Goes Beyond Signed Treaties

“If in most places peace is in some sort established and treaties signed, the germs of former enmities remain; and you well know… that there can be no stable peace or lasting treaties, though made after long and difficult negotiations and duly signed, unless there be a return of mutual charity to appease hate and banish enmity.
Pope Benedict 15th, On peace and Christian reconciliation, 1920

4. Peace Is Found If Economic Imbalances Are Corrected

“The nations of the world are becoming more and more dependent on one another and it will not be possible to preserve a lasting peace so long as glaring economic and social imbalances persist.”
Pope John 23rd, Mother and Teacher, 157

5. Long Term Peace Is Found In Trust

“True and lasting peace among nations cannot consist in the possession of an equal supply of armaments but only in mutual trust.”
Pope John 23rd, Peace On Earth, 113

6. World Peace Starts In the Heart Of Man

“The world will never be the dwellingplace of peace, till peace has found a home in the heart of each and every man, till every man preserves in himself the order ordained by God to be preserved.”
Pope John 23rd, Peace On Earth, 165

7. Peace Is Ensured By A Solid Foundation Of Rights And Responsibilities

“Since men are social by nature, they must live together and consult each other’s interests. That men should recognize and perform their respective rights and duties is imperative to a well ordered society.”

In this poem about war and peace, the poet describes the weakness in what seems to be powerful from the outside and how loving in simplicity brings peace of heart.

Peace be with you

The nation that built its power on slaves
The state that holds death in awe and in praise
The people that fight for freedom untold
Are weak and impotent as Jesus foretold.

The city that basked in sex and in sin
The town that put money and wealth before Him
The village that knelt to deliver the blows
Are places that Jesus forsakes for He knows.

The house that is home to the homeless untamed
The family that brings happiness to people unnamed
The child who prays for his foes and his kin
Will have peace at heart and Jesus within.
