I am a mental health therapist and my client is a devout Catholic and she handed this to me and said it was written by Pop Francis. I looked it up to see whether I could find a frameable copy and lo and behold I see this was written by a Portuguese poet who died last century. It is a beautiful poem and I feel embodies what many of us feel who do not give in to life’s difficult times. It fits perfectly with suicide awareness month. I’m happy I was introduced to it, but I am happier to know the real author of this piece. Perhaps Pope Francis read it out lout someplace. It’s good to attribute these words to the correct author. Thank you for helping me discover this poet!
